I have created a range of posters which  use info graphics. Info graphics has been mentioned a lot in my blog and sketch book. But for my final design I have decided not to go with info graphics as it is to mainstream and just looks to generic . so my design will all be typo graphic which means that getting the type face correct will play a huge part in how the design ins interpreted by the reader.

We looked in to screen printing and it looks like that we won’t have the funding to do it . so we then decided to look in to vinyl tile printing . now this looked like a cheep alternative. So we started to  cut out the designs from the vinyl tile’s , how ever it really didn’t work that well so we had to scratch that idea.  This give me time to rethink my design.  My design was originally going to be  laid out with a load of negative space. How ever I think that there was to much negative space in my design. So I changed it a decided to add a charter to it  which removed a lot of the negative space and made the design more interesting  and stand out more. I feel that this is a strong design which would work really well . I didn’t just want to create a poster which was telling people about the charity , I wanted the poster to also look like a piece of modem art which might be found in someone’s house. This I feel will be a way of making more money for the charity.  At the charity show we sold bags with some of the designs in which was good as this helped to raise money which was a good thing. I think that the project has had its ups and downs but I must say that it has gone really well over all. 

development

this week i started to develop some of my screen printing ideas. we had researched screen printing the previous week . so i had to come up with a design with a maximum of 3 colors. i had learned that the ,more colors which i have the more difficult the bags will be to produce. so i have deiced to only use 2 colors as i don't have time to use 3 colors as i have allot of bags to produce. furthermore the print ink is expensive and the lower my costs per unit this will mean  i will be abble to make more money for the charity. so i have settled for a bag idea now, and i have just started to try out with different layouts as i have mentioned before      

meating

this week we had a meeting with the head of the photography department. we were told that we would be making bag for life , using the screen printing method. so we were told  to research bags for life and screen printing. we have been advised to use 2 colors as using 3 would make the process to difficult and would have more chances of going wrong . so i am starting to put some ideas together for designs on the bag .

development

this week i have decided to develop some of my thumbnails in to really posters. now previously i have looked at information graphics , but i have decided to move away from this idea this week and , i have decided to create a poster with on information graphics on it. i must say that i really like this design as a concept but there is scope for improvement . the idea is inspired by a compass , which i feel give a strange , eye catching and individual appeal. this is the first poster that i have designed which i hasn't included information on the subject of aids it just says charity at the top and talks about the charity in the body copy  . he red line which comes out of the bottom of the circle could be used to show statistics on aids but i don't know if i will do that .

week 7

the previous week we had looked at thumb nail designs. so this week we looked at making those had generated thumb nails in to digital ones. the designs had to include information graphics , so this included creating lots of information graphics . so i had to create new ways of showing shocking information in a pleasant way. the style of information graphic i like is the line design. this is where a line is shaded in different colors to represent different statistics . all of the thumb nails witch i have designed have been inspired by quango.com and the book information is beautiful .

week 3

This week we went for coffee , to discuss our thoughts and ideas on the project. we sat down at looked at information graphics books.  we put our heads together and and decided that the best thing to do was to use the information graphics which we had talked about. We also looked a website called kiwango . this is a site witch shows lots of examples of information graphics. we also started to look at our own designs. so we started to design our own layouts and stuff. also we stated to look at turning the thumb nails in to a real poster.   so we had to create a basic poster idea to show that we have understood information graphics .

this weak we have been looking at different posters and adverts . we have looked at the concepts behind them and the sort of colors we have to uses to convey our message across to the target market we were asked to research some advertising posters . i chose the poster above as it is showing a picto graphic thought bubble , witch is the followed by the tag like a big idea conceded, also in the thought bubble it shows really good big items and then at the bottom of the bubble it shows a small car. this is showing a contrast between the massive cool items all squeezed in to a small car. this i felt was a really good poster to look in to ,and to inspire me  we then looked at the kiwango art work and how they present there posters. i intend to look more in to this next week.

in our first session we set up this blog to document what we will be doing over the course of the next few months . we also looked at the charity  uganda humanist schools trust . They are a charity who help orphans who have lost there parents to aids and cant afford to go to school. so the charity raises money so that they can go to schools in the area . the charity has set up a number of schools in the area . the money they raise goes towards to equipment and other stuff. the charity also had a friend scheme , witch is where people who support the charity can go and visit the schools and the individuals witch are being effected by the chary.  the sight is here if you would like more information  http://www.ugandahumanistschoolstrust.org/

the way we are raising money is , by having an art show and we would be responsible for the advertising . so posters ,tickets and flyers . you get the idea.

in my opinion this charity is worth souporting becausee it has alot of positive points and you can see how hard the charty is trying and you can also see there drive to inprove disadvantaged childrens life by giving them a beter chance for the future and to help them move on from the hardships they have sufferd in the past .

i hope that this project goes well and we can help the charity  in lots of  ways as possible. there will be a new post every week
